Open Threads links in the app
Paste a Threads URL and get a link that opens the Threads app instead of the browser — with a web fallback for everyone else.
Free forever. No login. Works with threads.com links.
Which Threads links work
toThe.App recognises links on threads.com. These URL shapes are handled:
On iPhone
Threads relies on its own link-handling rules, so the URL is passed through unchanged and iOS decides whether the app opens.
On Android
The URL is passed through unchanged. Android opens Threads if it is registered as a verified handler for the domain.
Known limitations
No link can force a phone to open an app. These are the cases where a Threads link falls back to the web:
- Because no custom scheme is used, handoff depends entirely on Meta's link configuration.
- Older threads.net URLs are not currently recognised — use threads.com.
Questions
How do I make a Threads link open in the app?
Paste the Threads URL into the generator above and select Make short link. Share the result. On a phone with Threads installed, the link offers to open the app; otherwise it continues to the Threads website.
Which Threads URLs are supported?
Links on threads.com are recognised. Typical shapes: https://www.threads.com/@USERNAME · https://www.threads.com/@USERNAME/post/POST_ID.
What happens on iPhone?
Threads relies on its own link-handling rules, so the URL is passed through unchanged and iOS decides whether the app opens.
What happens on Android?
The URL is passed through unchanged. Android opens Threads if it is registered as a verified handler for the domain.
Why did the Threads app not open?
The device makes the final call. Common reasons: the app is not installed, the specific URL type is not covered (Because no custom scheme is used, handoff depends entirely on Meta's link configuration.), or the link was tapped inside another app's in-app browser, which will not hand off to a native app. The web fallback always works.
